Menu 10/17-10/23

Not planning breakfast and lunch has started to take it's toll.  I get tired and ask little man what he wants to eat and get no helpful responses.  So back to planning all three meals.  I did get smart about it though.  I took about 20 minutes and wrote down everything I could come up with for breakfast, lunch, dinner and sides.  I'm sure that other things will come to me and I will continue to add them to the list.  Along with new recipes.  I feel like I keep drawing a blank when it comes to our menus and I think we are all getting bored.  So here's this weeks menu.

Breakfast- Grits and eggs
Lunch- Veggie burger and fries
Dinner- Spinach salad with carrots, mandarin oranges, grilled chicken and rice

Breakfast- Banana cake and yogurt
Lunch- Cheese, crackers and apples
Dinner- Rotisserie pork loin, mac and cheese, field peas and corn

Breakfast-Cinnamon Rolls (They are so good), smoothies
Lunch- Leftovers
Dinner- Shrimp bowls (shrimp w/ rice and veggies)

Lunch- Turkey wrap with carrots
Dinner- Cheeseburger pie, salad

Breakfast- Cereal and bananas
Lunch- Hot dogs, fries and oranges
Dinner- Leftover/pizza night (Thinking about using any leftover pork loin with spinach and cheese to make a leftover pizza)  Pizza night will include this cheesy bread and possibly these cinnasticks.  Since finding these recipes I've made both several times...sooooo good.

Breakfast- Yogurt, granola bars and bananas
Lunch- Bagels with cream cheese/nutella and peaches
Dinner- not sure (traveling for an engagement party)

Breakfast- Waffles, bacon, and fruit salad
Lunch- Leftovers
Dinner- Chicken nuggets, green beans, rolls (still trying to decide what kind I want to make), mashed potato's (this meal takes me back to elementary school lunch- when they served this was the only day I would buy lunch)

I feel like there's a little more variety having made the lists of meals.  It was easy to just glance at the list and decide what to make because we generally have all of the ingredients on hand or they can be easily made.  I'm hoping to make extra this week to freeze.  We already have some pancakes in the freezer and plan to double the recipe for a couple of things so that we we will have waffles and cheeseburger pie after this week.  I'm thinking about doubling the granola bar recipe as well but I've never made and frozen them so I'm not sure how it will go.  All I can do is try.

Menu 10/10-10/16

So earlier this week the hubby's schedule was changed and he was unexpectedly going to be home for work.  I went a little overboard that night and made homemade Parker House Rolls, fried pork chops, garlic mashed potato's, green beans, and a chocolate pie from scratch from the crust to the whipped topping.  I don't think I could cook like that everyday.  I guess it wouldn't be so time consuming if I planned better but it was spur of the moment.  Here's this weeks dinner menu.

Monday- Cereal and fruit

Tuesday- Ribs, salad and baked potato (I am making another pie.  The first was so good that I want another)

Wednesday- Chicken, broccoli and cheddar pie with salad

Thursday- Leftovers

Friday- Hot dogs, fries and fruit

Saturday- Attending my high school I'm getting old

Sunday- Shrimp with rice, carrots and broccoli

Still keeping the plans kind of simple.  I just don't have the energy to do full on planning right now.  Fatigue has set in again along with lots of aches and pain.

Aldi 10/4/11

I am finally getting back in the swing of things.  I got my butt handed to me when I checked out budget last week and saw how ridiculously over we were.  So I'm going to get back to posting our grocery trips.  This is a way for me to be held accountable.  We still have plenty of meat from our bundle so unless there's a sale we won't be purchasing much meat.  He's a recap of our trip to Aldi yesterday.

2- 2 Liter cola $.59 each
Baking Cocoa $2.29
64 oz. Apple Juice $1.49
2- Boxes Baking Soda $.49 each
32 oz. Vanilla Yogurt- $1.99
1 lb. turkey lunch meat $3.29
Seasoned French Fries $1.89
4 pk Sparkling Water $1.69
Lemon Juice $1.79
Hot Dog Buns $.89
Spinach $1.69
Variety Pack Donuts $1.89
Six Cracker Assortment $2.49
Gallon Freezer Bags $1.99
Coffee Creamer $1.99
Milk $1.99
2.27 lbs Banana's $1
Peaches $2.89
Mango $.99

Total after tax $34.82

I could have gone less this week but there were a few extras thrown in.  Little man absolutely LOVES the donut assortment and it's one of the few store bought baked goods we have found that he can actually have with his peanut allergy, so.....I tend to let him have them when he asks.  Basically they are his bribe to be good and he gets a donut in the car.  I know, I know.

The sparkling water is for me.  I have on more than one occasion in the past few weeks found myself dehydrated.  Not good for preggo.  Normally I drink water, lots of it, but the past month or two I haven't been able to because water is the one thing that gives me crazy heartburn.  I can drink soda all day long and be fine, have one glass of water and I'm miserable.  So, my theory was if this is fizzy water maybe it won't give me heartburn.  I drank one yesterday and worked in some regular water and felt pretty good.

Also, the cracker assortment.  We normally buy a variety pack from Sam's but haven't lately.  I like having the sesame, wheat and regular crackers.  Well these do not disappoint and they have a cool flip top that reseals so I won't have to worry about stale crackers.  We like to snack on them, use them to make our version of lunchables and to have with soups and stews.  These are probably only around through the holidays, they seem more the entertaining type of cracker(not they they are particularly amusing but that they would be used when one entertains others).

I also am going to keep a log of all of our eating/food expenses.  I want to get a good look at what we are eating/spending.  I know that I will not be happy with our dining out amount this month because we ate out at two restaurants while out of town for our anniversary.  The positive side is that we used cash.  So that won't show up on our bank account but I still have the figures in my head and plan to include them.  I know that it's not a normal expense but I also don't want to forget that we spent it either.

Menu 10/3-10/9

I know it's late but we were out of town celebrating our anniversary and it was dinner time when we got home yesterday.  I had not sat down and actually planned anything but knew I needed to before little man and I go to the grocery store.  This week I'm keeping things really simple.

Monday- Spaghetti and bread- well this is what the hubby had (I can't eat tomato sauce, makes me gag/sick, always has but I didn't really make anything....I ate bread with honey and butter.....don't judge I was exhausted and slightly dehydrated.  All I really wanted was water.)

Tuesday- Grilled Chicken salad w/ fruit

Wednesday- Hot dogs with fries and salad

Thursday- Sandwich's, chips and carrot sticks

Friday- Breakfast for dinner

Saturday- Fruit, yogurt and granola

Sunday- Grilled pork chops with potato's and snow peas

That's it.  Super simple.  My brain is not ready to work yet today.  Hoping that at some point this week I can sit down and plan a full on menu to include breakfast and lunch again.
